The Greatwoods
A vast primeval forest of building-tall godTrees and Carver-made bloodback bears, home to House Diana.
Story so far
The Greatwoods are the great forest to the south and west of the Mars highlands, the realm of House Diana. Beyond thick shrubbery lies a cathedral of godTrees — colossal trunks tall as buildings whose tentacle-like roots sap the soil so little else can grow — a green city that reminds Darrow both of Yorkton's streets and of the dark, cramped mines of Lykos. Chest-sized autumn leaves crunch underfoot, woodpeckers give away Diana's hidden fortress, and monstrous Carver-bred bloodback bears roar in the deeper wood.
Darrow and Sevro cross it blindfolded to parley with Tamara, watched all the while by hunters hiding in the high boughs.
