Slingblade

A cruelly curved half-moon cutter carried by Helldivers to hack free limbs caught in the drills.

Story so far

The slingBlade is a hinged, half-moon cutter as long as a man's leg, holstered on the Helldiver's back and meant to slice off and cauterize a limb trapped in machinery. When Darrow's foot jams beneath a drill gear in the deep tunnel, his terror-steadied hands slice the nanoplastic three times to free himself, brushing a drill finger and searing his hand. Its curved, forgiving shape is designed for clumsy panicking hands, but Darrow's are never clumsy.

The blade recurs as an emblem of his identity and later takes on far greater meaning.
