Icarus

Lorn au Arcos's colossal Carver-made pet griffin, kept in a private forest on Europa.

Story so far

Icarus is Lorn au Arcos's beloved pet griffin, a colossal Carver-made beast slumbering in a moss bed within the private forest at the heart of Lorn's Europa castle. Of the same genus as the giant griffins bred at the poles of Mars and Earth to terrify Obsidians into believing in magic, he is larger than any Darrow has seen—his eagle's head nearly bigger than a man, a single eye half the size of a skull, iridescent wings glittering with rain, able to uproot a tree with a shrug. Fitted with a thin saddle newly made by Lorn's family, he is meant to carry Darrow to a hidden escape ship, though Darrow refuses to flee.

Appearance

An enormous griffin with a great eagle's head, amber eyes half the size of a human skull, iridescent glittering wings, and lion's paws; strong enough to uproot trees.

Role

Lorn's giant pet griffin; the offered means of Darrow's escape from Europa.

Relationships

Lorn au Arcos — His master, who raised him and saddles him to spirit Darrow to safety.
Darrow — Whom Lorn means the griffin to carry to a hidden ship, though he refuses to flee.
