Darcy

Darcy is a night guard who turned against his superiors to help Charlotte and Donald; he falls under fire while freeing the escape lift.

Story so far

Darcy first investigated the injured man found in a pod, remaining at Medical for results rather than going to sleep. He noticed that blood on the pod belonged to someone else and might have come from a cough or chest wound, and reported altered records. He recognized that Troy's blood contradicted claims that Troy had not been awakened. Later, cleaning blood from the lift, Darcy recovered a bloodied bullet and took it for testing himself. Reading "Emer" as a location led him to an empty Emergency Personnel pod. Fearing that reporting his findings might alert those responsible, he pursued the missing wounded pilot himself.

Darcy armed himself, found Charlotte using her radio, and restrained her. Suspecting senior personnel and perhaps his own superiors, he wanted to understand her evidence before handing her over. He concealed her folders, helped her launch a drone, and explained that Donald's beating and the refusal to answer questions had made him suspicious. Though initially insisting that both prisoners must be locked up, he eventually agreed to let Donald escape. He then concealed the siblings during a search and brought them food and clean coveralls. Having stopped his medication, he remembered brief army service and thought he later served in the Secret Service. He objected to three people alone deciding the facility's fate, but began preparing the second suit when Donald ordered him to escape with Charlotte.

During the departure, Darcy takes a gun from a prepared pack and exchanges fire with men in the armory. He leaves the drone lift to force the jammed bin inward from outside, falls to his knees after a shot, and fires behind him. He pushes Charlotte's hands back into the lift before freeing the door. Before shoving the bin inside, he tells her that he remembers who he is.
