Control Sigil

gating sigil

A showrunner-placed magical glyph that gates specific mobs — visible to Carl alone through his Escape Plan skill.

Story so far

A control sigil is a magical marking Carl first spots on the floor outside the Banshee-Station-116 warehouse: a ritual-looking circle of odd writing around a central triangle, pulsing blue. Only Carl can see it, courtesy of his Escape Plan skill; Princess-Donut and Katia-Grim see nothing. Mordecai identifies it as a control sigil used mostly by secondary programs like Vengeance-of-the-Daughter and occasionally by the dungeon creators for controlled gating — stopping a specific mob type from crossing.

Toggled on and off by the showrunners rather than the dungeon AI (blue = active), their use is considered sloppy, easy-to-break programming. Crawlers can't make them directly, though a similar high-mana variant of magic exists that Donut might one day manage. The sigils fuel Carl's growing sense that the sealed-robot rooms hide a deliberate secret.

Appearance

A glowing circle of arcane writing ringing a central triangle, pulsing blue, visible only through Carl's Escape Plan skill.

Role

A recurring dungeon-mechanic mystery Carl alone can perceive, hinting at hidden gating around the robot rooms.
