Effective immediately, you may no longer store liquids in your inventory unless they are in a container. The system settled the paradox the loud way.
Buried at the end of The Second-to-Last Message among the housekeeping: they have patched a few persistent bugs with the inventory system, and effective immediately you may no longer store liquids unless they are in a container.
Seconds later, Katia Grim exploded. Blood erupted out of her in every direction, gallons and gallons of it, an impossible amount, for twenty full seconds — hitting the ceiling and every wall of The Personal Space like a multi-directional pressure washer. Carl was blasted in the face and fell over choking, Princess Donut squealed and leapt across the room, Mordecai went backward over the couch with his frog legs in the air, and Mongo shrieked with joy and danced in circles in it like a child in the rain.
Carl worked out what had happened: Katia had stored all the blood from her time attached to the front of the train directly into her inventory to keep her scoop clean, and the retroactive patch had nowhere to put it. Not one drop landed on her — it sprayed outward in a circle from her body. Carl had a thought. An exploit. He wondered how well it would work, decided they would patch it the moment he tried, and filed the information away.
One line of patch notes, and several hundred gallons of ghoul blood.
A retroactive rules change that becomes the chapter's punchline — and hands Carl an exploit he does not use yet.
