Nekhebit

the vulture goddess · the Scavenger Mother of Mothers

A long-forgotten vulture goddess, jealous and terrible, who cursed the high elf court's seed and made the Fae Diaspora.

Story so far

Nekhebit is a long-forgotten goddess described in the lore of the Enchanted Repeating Crossbow of the Scavenger Mother of Mothers as both jealous and terrible. When the elf mothers chose to abandon her and worship Apito the Oak Goddess instead, Nekhebit grew enraged — but she did not blame the mothers. She blamed the male-dominated high elf court for driving her worshippers away, and cursed their seed.

That curse is written as the origin of the Fae Diaspora: the dozens of elf and fairy breeds scattered across the universe, all of whom trace their lineage back to the early high elf court whose cursed offspring sowed the stars. Her surviving mark on the present is the crossbow itself, said to have been given to her last warrior guardian as a gift for remaining true to her faith — a female-only weapon that grows stronger with every woman standing beside its wielder, and that curses anything which births monsters.

Appearance
