A thousand beanie babies in a dead woman's apartment turn out to be the most dangerous hoard on the third floor.
Miss Quill came up because Daniel Bautista needed Carl to remember her: the old skyfowl lady from the last floor, who ended up being the head bad guy of the area, whose failed spell is the reason Carl has an about-to-explode nuke in his inventory, and whom Bautista had a quest to kill — a quest that failed because Carl's party inadvertently killed her first by blowing a hole in the magistrate's office ceiling.
Bautista had been trying to get into her apartment at the time. He found it empty except for the collection: more than a thousand different stuffed monsters. He has used about forty of them since, and every summon he has thrown on this floor came out of that room. Carl reached up and fingered the small charm on his necklace while he remembered her. How could he forget.
Remembered, not present — a skyfowl matriarch whose private apartment held a thousand plush monsters.
The third floor's hidden ruler, and posthumously the supplier of an entire crawler's arsenal.
