An abandoned yard full of corpses and no mobs — which makes it the best address on the fourth floor.
Yard H is what lies through the giant swirling abyss gate at the end of the Mindaro Line, and Carl checked it the way he checks everything now: he walked up to the portal and took a screenshot. No mimic. Dozens of corpses spread through an abandoned trainyard, but no mobs anywhere in the image. He could also see the missing interdiction cart — the one playing Def Leppard's "Rock of Ages" — which had jumped the track at the service bay, stayed upright, and wedged itself against the cavern wall with its portal still running, having thankfully not teleported away the entire cave system.
So H became the destination. Instead of the cart portal into Station and Repair Hub E, where a Station Mimic city boss sat with a three-hundred-foot mouth pointed at the gate, Carl handed out Homeward Bound hats and walked six hundred people through the abyss portal into H, then eased the cart through last. The final tally for the operation: just over fourteen hundred people pulled off the end of the line, if not to safety then to a place where they have a chance.
And it is where the good moment happened. The cart coasted to a stop behind the wedged interdiction cart, the Def Leppard cut out mid-song when the crawler with the enchanted sling shot the trap off it, and in the silence six hundred people applauded. Daniel Bautista hugged Carl and Katia Grim, patted Princess Donut, and then laid his hat at her feet.
An abandoned underground trainyard scattered with dozens of corpses, one flipped-track interdiction cart wedged against the cavern wall with its portal still glowing, and no living mobs in sight.
The escape yard for Bautista's six hundred — mobless, corpse-strewn, and the site of the rescue's only celebration.
