Miss Carrie is the young teacher at Mei's Montessori day care on Ganymede. In the prologue she hands Mei over to Doctor Strickland and the woman posing as Mei's mother, reassured by the school's identification system. When Prax fights his way to the school amid the fighting, a terrified Carrie must tell him Mei was taken that morning — insisting the system verified the woman as Mei's mother and that Mei went without a fuss.
She describes the woman as about thirty with dark hair and eyes, accompanied by a doctor, and cannot say whether Mei's medicine went with her.
