Y Que

souverän Belt-racer Y Que

The shattered first ship through the Ring is still transmitting faintly and moving slowly toward the same unseen destination as a Martian probe.

Story so far

Manéo Jung-Espinoza built the tiny Ceres Station racer for a record slingshot through The Ring. Inside the starless space beyond, an unknown force stopped it at ninety-nine g, killing Néo instantly while its exterior camera continued broadcasting.

Mars's science expedition recovers enough of the faint signal to determine that the wreck is not simply drifting. The Y Que now travels far more slowly than its entry speed toward an unknown point. An unmanned probe entering under ordinary power is seized, stopped, and placed on apparently the same course, suggesting the Ring's interior is deliberately collecting intruders.

Appearance

The Y Que is a tiny improvised rock hopper with a slagged transponder, cramped cockpit, torch drive, and exterior camera. Its internal space has been devastated by the fatal high-g stop.

Role

The Y Que has become the first moving datum inside the Ring, showing scientists that the alien environment actively redirects what enters.
