Sophia Trubachev

Sophia

An abused Europan parishioner finds a narrow route to safety when Pastor Anna engineers her husband's arrest.

Story so far

Sophia Trubachev belongs to St. John's United on Europa, and her children play with Nami. Her husband Nicholas Trubachev has begun hitting her again after abandoning church-funded anger counseling. Terrified, Sophia initially claims she fell in the kitchen and only after patient coaxing shows Anna Volovodov the bruises beneath her shirt.

Anna photographs the injuries, provokes Nick into assaulting her, and calls Sophia while he lies incapacitated on the office floor. With Nick already headed for jail, Sophia promises to show police the bruises and tell them what happened, taking the first protected step away from his control.

Appearance

Sophia is an adult woman living on Europa, but her age, features, build, and dress are not described. The text notes concealed bruising from domestic violence rather than stable physical traits.

Role

Sophia is the parishioner whose danger tests whether Anna's compassion can include coercion, deception, and personal risk.

Relationships

Nicholas Trubachev — Her husband Nicholas Trubachev beats and terrorizes her, depending on that fear to keep her from speaking to authorities.
Anna Volovodov — She trusts Pastor Anna Volovodov enough to reveal her injuries and, once protected, agrees to tell the truth to police.
Nami — Her children play with Nami, making her family part of Anna's intimate community rather than an abstract pastoral case.
